Latvia achieves 70% electronic certification with essCert
The Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has achieved 70% electronic certification via the essCert electronic Certificate of Origin (eCO) solution, within 10 months from going live.
The majority of Latvian Exporters and Freight Forwarders are now applying for electronic Certificates of Origin via the secure essCert solution, with LCCI subsequently reviewing these applications online as well as electronically signing, stamping and returning eCOs to applicants.
LCCI went live with essCert electronic Certificates of Origin at the end of May 2022. By March 2023, the chamber had propelled uptake of electronic COs to 70% of its total certificates of origin, whereas it aims to achieve 90% electronic certification in the upcoming months.
LCCI is part of a network of 400+ Chambers of Commerce using essCert to issue eCOs out of 21 export countries for imports into 190 countries.
Commenting on the recent digital trade milestone for Latvia, Katrīna Zariņa, Member of the Board, LCCI, said: ''We are in the beginning of new changes and this is just one part of the digital transformation at LCCI. We are proud of what we have achieved and are inspired to continue the change''.
The essCert Team looks forward to supporting LCCI in its efforts to expand the use of eCOs and provide value-adding services to its customers and members.
